Although it is one of the seemingly more simpler apps out there, I still feel that Remote is worthy of being this week’s app of the week.

It does what the name suggests, that is it acts as a remote control for iTunes. With an interface that is practically identical to the Music app built in to the iPhone and iPod Touch, it should take no time at all for you to become familiar with the layout and the functions. If the media file has it, album artwork is shown on your screen, you can view playlists, artists, albums, videos available, you can start a Genius playlist, or you can just view what is currently being played.

I personally use Remote a lot when I want to listen to music but I don’t want to be tempted by the evils that using a desktop computer can present.

However, Remote becomes more useful when there are other people who also have Remote installed, at a party for example. If you setup iTunes DJ on your computer, guests can vote on which songs they would like to hear played. Songs that have more votes are played sooner, but if no-one votes then iTunes chooses songs for you.

Although it is a seemingly simple app, Remote does exactly what it says it will do and all for a most agreeable price, the only requirement apart from iTunes (which you should already have anyway) is a wireless network that your computer is on that your iPhone or iPod Touch can connect to.
