A great take on the classic “dice poker” game of Yahtzee (a version of which exists on the App Store, but for a price of $3.99AUD) where the objective remains the same as the original.

In the app, you are able to choose between three different scoring modes (traditional, American [my preferred choice] and Swedish) and separate high score tables are kept for each different scoring method.

There is also the ability to make use of the accelerometer built-in to the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing you to merely shake the device to get it to roll the dice.

Sometimes your fingers may slip and accidentally press something that you didn’t intend to, potentially costing you points and a high score. However, the app is smart enough to not allow you to do what it thinks is a mis-tap easily. Even if you do manage to press the wrong button, there is an undo button (but that only works for the last shot. If you roll the dice again, the undo button is disabled).

If you enjoyed the original Yahtzee game, then you will like Yacht, especially at this price.
